Crisis Services
What to do and how to get help?
If you or someone you are assisting is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
For various other psychological crises, the Center for Counseling, Coaching and Consulting provides crisis services to help students address the crisis, and connect them with the resources and services that may also be needed.
Our staff can be reached during business hours (Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm) at the Center for Counseling, Coaching, & Consulting, located in the old Student Center building, Room 146. During business hours, we can be reached at (757) 594-7047.
In addition, our professional staff can be reached for consultation 24 hours of the day when classes are in session. If you or a student needs to speak with our on-call counselor other than during business hours, please contact the Christopher Newport Univeristy Campus Police at (757) 594-7777, and they will contact the on-call counselor.
